The Heartland RaceWalkers have invited Dave McGovern for a World Class Racewalking Clinic, Overland Park, KS Aug 6-8. 2010
Friday: 6:30 Pasta dinner and orientation, Saturday: 9:00-5:00, Sunday: 8:00-4:00
Fee: $175, Registration Closing Date Sunday July 31, 2010 @ 11:59 PM
Description:Clinic fee includes individual video-taped technique analysis; group technique and training instruction; use of Polar Heart Rate Monitors; all pertinent handouts and Friday evening pasta dinner in most cities. Walkers of ALL abilities are encouraged to attend. Beginners benefit by interacting with more advanced walkers, while advanced walkers learn a
lot by watching the progress made by the beginners.

Dave McGovern is a globe-trotting racewalking coach and a 22+ year veteran of the US National Racewalk Team with a master’s degree in sport science from the United States Sports Academy. It was the hottest, most humid day of the season so far but kctc members stayed  tough and ran from Dan & Tamera Kovacs house. Thanks to Dan and Tamera for a great course and fun evening!

Mel and Sophia at the Run Toto Run 15miler and 50K July 10th.  The tough trails of Wyandotte County Lake were no match for KCTC board member Mel.  But why all the mud?  Isn’t that at Mud and Muck?

Donny Danner Places at Kirk Veach 5K

KCTC  and Northland Runner member Donny Danner places 2nd overall out of 204 runners at the Kirk Veach Memorial 5K in Lawson, MO. Kirk Veach 5K is an annual event to raise funds for Organ Donation and is part of the Lawson Annual 3 Day Picnic complete with Parade, Festival, Strawberry Festival and much more.

Eudora Horsethief 5K Horseshoes

Dee Boeck, Kathy Johnson and Jane Tompkins show off some real hardware – horseshoes and ceramic mugs were given to Masters Winners at the Eudora 5K Horsethief run July 10.    Kathy Johnson also won a Garmin as the age graded fastest runner in the race.

Thursday Bike & Run

The Thursday Night Leawood Runners have added a bike option to their workout routine. Meet at Leawood City Park at 5:30pm to bike and 6:30pm to run. You will always know who is going to show up by going to their facebook page.  Bring your bike and /or running shoes to the parking lot adjacent to the basketball courts. This is a great shady course for those hot summer days!

KCTC Board Members Lou Joline and Maggie McCoy (left) met with Dana Wilson, Executive Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to start planning the 2011 Brew to Brew. We’re excited as we head into the17th year of Brew to Brew with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Mark your calendars, it’s April 3, 2011. BTW, Lou has been the Race Director and force behind Brew to Brew since it’s inception.
