About Us

The Kansas City Track Club is an adult running club with a focus on fun and service to the KC running community.  We’re working to expand the opportunities for both beginners and seasoned runners to enjoy the health benefits and fun of our sport.  Each year we provide race director, consulting, course measurement and/or finish line services for up to 30 races that raise thousands of dollars for local charities.  Our premier event is Brew to Brew - a 43 mile solo and relay from KC to Lawrence, with over 3000 runners and $40,000 raised for Cystic Fibrosis in 2007.   We also sponsor the Cliffhanger 5K/8K on Cliff Drive, and partner with the KC Sports Commission to produce the St. Pat’s 4 miler in historic Westport.

On the non-competitive side we have a number of free fun runs where everyone, including non-members, is welcome.  KCTC has been sponsoring the Wednesday Night Run potluck, a movable feast that meets at local runners homes for a run or walk and dinner, for almost 30 years. We also have a low key Monday night run, now is in it’s 12th year, that ends with food and drinks at the 75th Street Brewery in Waldo.  And every Jan 1st we hold a free New Year’s Day run.  KCTC also offers 10 week training sessions on Monday evenings for new runners several times a year – details at www.kctrack.org.

KCTC is proud to have the KC Trail Nerds (http://www.psychowyco.com) as a sub group.  The Trail Nerds are at the forefront of the trail running boom taking place across the country and have some of the finest trail and ultra running talent in the KC area.  The Trail Nerds host a Vasque trail race series throughout the year with a variety of distances and difficulty.  The tough PsychoWyco in February is becoming a trail running must do, with competitors coming in from all over the USA.

You do not have to be a KCTC member to attend any of our events. Membership costs $15 a year, for which you get a discount at selected running stores, a weekly e-mail newsletter, an occasional paper newsletter, free entry into our Monday classes, and a reduced entry fee at the Cliffhanger 5K/8K and the St. Patrick’s 4-Mile Run.
